An established attorney, Michele A. Whitham was a partner of Foley Hoag LLP for more than 27 years before joining Locke Lord LLP, a firm that provides legal representation in a wide variety of areas, including business, energy and environmental, health care law, intellectual property, and international litigation and arbitration, to name a few. She now serves clients at her own firm, Whitham Law. Ms. Whitham provides her services to the areas of labor and employment law, and data theft. Taking a closer look, Ms. Whitham represents employers in every aspect of the employment relationship and lends her services to global businesses. Employers rely on her for representation in federal and state courts, as well as administrative forums and ADR proceedings.
Ms. Whitham’s interest in law stems from growing up in an academic family. It was assumed that she would also become a professor, and she did for a time as a faculty member at Cornell University from 1976 to 1988. It was during this time that Ms. Whitham realized the field of law was calling her and would enable her to take part in changing the world and making a difference. Her educational track reflects this course, as she first earned a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell, and then a Master of Arts in teaching and education from the university. She also received a Master of Science in human development from Cornell, as well as a JD in 1988. Her time as a lawyer has been recognized by the Massachusetts and New England Super Lawyers, and with an AV-Preeminent Rating and Top Rated Lawyer from Martindale-Hubbell.
Admitted to practice by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, Ms. Whitham is able to provide extensive law services. In addition, she serves on the board of directors for Lex Mundi and the society of fellows for the Boston Bar Foundation. She maintains affiliation with the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Unified Court System of the State of New York, the American Bar Association, and is a trainer for the Community Dispute Resolution Program. In the coming years, Ms. Whitham hopes to become known as a guru to the legal community.
