New Orleans, LA, April, 11, 2016, Paul Sterbcow, Managing Partner of Lewis, Kullman, Sterbcow & Abramson, has been honored by Elite American Lawyers for his achievements and leadership in civil litigation and admiralty law.
Backed by more than three decades of legal expertise, Mr. Sterbcow is regarded in the New Orleans region for his commitment to bringing the best possible outcome to a case and his compassion. With 100 percent of his focus on litigation, he has demonstrated his position as an industry leader for winning wrongful death cases as they pertain to asbestos exposure and mesothelioma, as well as traumatic personal injury resulting from maritime collisions and other accidents. For his professional excellence in his career, Mr. Sterbcow was named among Louisiana’s top attorneys on six occasions and he was the recipient of a president’s award from the Louisiana Association of Justice. Mr. Sterbcow consistently achieves an AV preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, an honor that is reserved for the top attorneys in their respective fields.
In a recent interview with Elite American Lawyers, Mr. Sterbcow recalls the pinnacle of his career: “The highlight of my career was being chosen by Judge Carl Barbier to be a member of the Plaintiff Steering Committee in the largest single civil litigation lawsuit in the history of American jurisprudence,” he said, adding that he became the co-lead trial lawyer and tried the liability of BP Transocean and Halliburton. He represented approximately 700 commercial divers, as well as commercial fishermen, crabbers, deckhands, property owners, small- and large-business owners, and oil and gas industry entities who sustained damages as a result of the deep water horizon incident. “I was extremely proud to be able to put together a rockstar team committed to providing justice to these folks—which we did,” he recounts. When asked of his success, Mr. Sterbcow attributes his achievements to enjoying what he does and putting in the time required, as well as his hard work and consistent preparation.
Prior to establishing his career, Mr. Sterbcow earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from Tulane University and a JD from Tulane University Law School. He became admitted to practice in front of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Western District of Louisiana, Southern District of Alabama and the Fifth Circuit. To remain current in his professional community, Mr. Sterbcow is a member of the International College of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Trial Lawyers and the New Orleans Bar Association, where he served on the board of directors between 2012 and 2014. A frequent lecturer at Tulane University and the Louisiana Association for Justice, Mr. Sterbcow is proud to help influence and guide the next generation of litigation attorneys.
