Having grown up in a family of lawyers, Carl J. Pernicone naturally developed an interest in political science and legal matters at an early age. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Iona College in 1980, he went to Fordham University School of Law, where he graduated with a JD in 1983. Since then, he has enjoyed a varied legal career that has allowed him to hone his skills in the areas of insurance, reinsurance coverage, workplace chemical exposure and environmental liability, and emerging issues, including hydraulic fracturing and climate change. Listed among Top Attorneys in the New York Metro Area, Mr. Pernicone is very passionate about his work and the emerging issues that can have a lasting impact on society.

As a partner and attorney with Wilson Elser LLP, Mr. Pernicone serves as the co-chair of the firm’s insurance-reinsurance coverage practice. On a daily basis, he utilizes his extensive experience with matters involving toxic tort and environmental liability claims, and handles complicated environmental issues to assist insurers facing claims in emerging coverage areas, such as climate change and clean energy technologies. Mr. Pernicone is actively involved with the American Bar Association as a member of the litigation committee, among other professional affiliations. Throughout the course of his career, he has authored many publications, such as the ruling on specific causation in toxic tort cases. Mr. Pernicone is committed to staying abreast of any changes in his areas of practice, and hopes to experience continued growth and success with the firm in the future.
