Ms. McDonough was an administrator of a home health agency, and the State of Connecticut started regulating the business; making it difficult to do what needed to be done in health care. At the time, she had to apply for a certificate through the state commission of hospitals to hire more employees, and it became arduous. On the way home, she picked up the newspaper, and saw a University of Bridgeport ad for law school. She was accepted and went to law school, because it seemed to be the right thing to do. She was going through law school and a divorce at the same time, and started to focus in the family and aviation law areas of the legal industry.

Ms. McDonough has been practicing law for more than 33 years, and has extensive experience in the areas of family law, aviation matters, mediation, divorce, and custody.  She spends her days representing clients, developing legal strategies, and researching. Ms. McDonough has represented airlines when the FAA pursues them for a violation of federal aviation regulations (FAR), as well as pilots, mechanics and individuals.

Well respected in her field, Ms. McDonough earned the Client Distinction award and is a BV Distinguished attorney. She takes great pride in her work and in her ability to get her clients justice. Ms. McDonough has held an Airline Transport Pilot certificate since 1984 and is a flight instructor. For many years she owned a charter company and was its chief pilot.  For fun, she owned an aerobatic airplane and taught spin training and other maneuvers.

Colleen M. Barry is Ms. McDonough’s paralegal and has been working with her for 33 years. Colleen is a graduate of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. She has worked for Sandra since 1982 and carries a special relationship in this boutique practice where their clients get personal attention at all times. Colleen lives in Milford, CT with her husband and son.
