She wanted to help people and saw working as a lawyer as an extension of that. In 2007, Ms. Barton won an historic appeal of U.S. v. Hardman at the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. She was an associate with Las Vegas law firm Bell and Young from 1990 to 1994.
