Mark Petersen, Esq. is a Partner at Farella, Braun & Martel, LLP. With a refined and sophisticated background in commercial litigation, mediation, biotechnology, and entertainment and employment law, Mr. Petersen makes the most of his legal expertise by offering top of the line services to his clients. He has nurtured a growing skill set over the course of a career that has spanned nearly three decades, and he continues to strive for excellence in his every endeavor.

Attributing his success to sheer hard work, Mr. Petersen is proud to be able to provide winning legal services after establishing himself in a number of professional arenas. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy, and went on to receive his JD from the UC Hastings College of the Law. He has previously served as a nuclear engineer and submarine serviceman, and worked for the United States Navy. Mr. Petersen is currently a member of The State Bar of California and the American Bankers Association. He is also a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, and he is the Chair of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Mediation Committee.

Mr. Petersen has also developed a growing mediation practice. He serves as a mediator for the Northern District of California, the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Early Settlement Program, the Contra Costa County EASE Program, and as a Judge Pro Tem in San Francisco for mediation of cases about to go to trial. In the past years he has settled nearly 50 cases as a mediator. Mr. Petersen has completed the America Arbitration Association’s Mediator Training and Arbitrator Training, the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Advanced Mediator Training and the American Bar Association Advanced Mediation and Advocacy Skills Training. He has written numerous materials on mediation and litigation techniques for industry professionals and legal practitioners, and he teaches trial skills with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
